Clermont Auvergne moved back to the summit in the Top 14 standings after a 30-6 win over Toulon at the Stade Marcel-Michelin on Sunday night.
Camille Lopez, Wesley Fofana and Remi Lamerat all went over for Clermont, who were also awarded a penalty try, with Morgan Parra kicking two conversions and two penalties.
La Rochelle had earlier climbed to the top of the table with a 22-8 victory over Castres Olympique on Saturday night.
It looked like victory might evade them after Jody Jenneker crossed for the only try of the first half and Benjamin Urdapilleta’s penalty giving the visitors a 8-6 half-time lead.
Zack Holmes who kicked two penalties in the opening half added a third after the restart before Victor Vito crossed for the only try of the second-half.
Holmes converted and added two further penalties while Yohann Montes was sent-off for Castres in the final 10 minutes.

A penalty five minutes from time saw Brive defeat Grenoble 23-22 as Bernard Jackman’s side remained second from bottom.
Gaetan Germain’s sixth penalty of the game sealed victory for Brive who conceded three tries from Xavier Mignot, Arnaud Heguy, and Charl McLeod, and a penalty from Jonathan Wisniewski saw Brive trail 22-15 going into the final quarter.
But Fabien Sanconnie’s try and a penalty from Germain edged them to victory.

Montpellier kept their play-off chances alive with a 31-26 victory over Bordeaux on Friday.
It was anything but plain sailing for the hosts as Jean-Baptiste Dubie crossed for Bordeaux three minutes in.
Simon Hickey converted but saw the gap narrowed with Francois Steyn splitting the posts on the quarter hour.
He then converted a Nemani Nadolo try on the half hour but the sides went in level with Hickey converting a penalty which saw Steyn sent to the sin bin.
Despite being a man down Montpellier grabbed the opening score of the half as Vincent Martin crashed over and after Hickey was sin-binned Nic White pushed the lead out to eight at 18-10 before Steyn returned.
Hickey and Steyn traded penalties before French superstar Baptiste Serin crossed for Bordeaux. Hickey’s conversion closed the gap to a single point.
Steyn and Hickey once more traded penalties before Joseph Tomane crossed with two minutes remaining to seal the victory. Steyn converted but Hickey’s penalty in injury-time saw the visitors clinch a losing bonus-point.
