England will have to mount their Grand Slam defence without second-row George Kruis who has been ruled out of the Six Nations with a knee injury.
Kruis picked up the knock in training last week and saw a specialist on Thursday before then seeking a second opinion on the damage.
But England’s Sunday night injury update ahead of next weekend’s Test against Wales confirmed the injury will sideline the Saracens lock for 10-12 weeks with him requiring surgery.

England have opted against calling up an injury replacement for Kruis and their revised 32-man squad which meets ahead of Saturday’s match in Cardiff sees Bath loose-head Nathan Catt drop out of the reckoning. Injured prop Mako Vunipola joins to continue his rehabilitation from injury.
