British & Irish Lions CEO John Feehan has predicted a “vibrant future” for the tourists as they prepare for a series decider against New Zealand on Saturday.

The British & Irish Lions face a gruelling 10-game tour of New Zealand, including three Tests against the All Blacks. ESPN will be there with full, up-to-date coverage every step of the way.

The Lions head to Auckland with a chance to secure a first series win against the All Blacks since 1971, following their 24-21 victory in the second Test in Wellington.

Saturday’s match will bring the curtain down on a tour that has been played to a strict schedule, amid suggestions that key stakeholders could push for the trip to South Africa in four years to be shortened further.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, though, Feehan remained bullish that the Lions have a robust future. He said: “Every business has risks, threats and opportunities and the Lions are no different.

“More people support the Lions than at any other point in history and I see a vibrant future as there are few things that compare to them.”

On Sunday, former Lions coach Graham Henry floated the idea of playing Tests on home soil but Feehan insists he is happy with the current structure, which sees the tourists travel to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa on a four-year cycle.

“We have a model in place that works,” he said. “Lions tours are going to remain largely in the same structure. We believe in evolution over revolution.”
