Who should apply for a Premiership Rugby coaching development scholarship?

If you read this blog, then you already know that I applied for a Premiership Rugby coaching development scholarship last year. The application is straightforward: submit a ninety-second video along with your contact info.

When I first considered applying, I was unsure if I was qualified and did not know what I to put in my video. Having received the scholarship and completed the program, it’s clear that being authentic and showing your passion for coaching is all that’s required.

And as you can see in the charts below, the thirty scholarship recipients in the Spring 2019 cohort span the gamut. All player levels are represented from grade school through to the adult National team.

Among the scholarship recipients, the male coaches outnumbered female coaches 2:1. However, the athletes being coached were evenly-split on gender.

In other words, anyone and everyone coaching rugby in America should consider applying for the next Premiership Rugby coaching development scholarship. It will take place October 27th through November 3rd in London, England. The application deadline is August 26 (apply here).

If you need some inspiration, you can review the application videos from the Spring 2019 scholarship recipients below.
